Last night, New Zealand’s largest fireworks display brought the new year in with a bang. The much-loved SkyCity midnight fireworks from Auckland’s Sky Tower paired with laser and light animation display was the first to lead the world into 2020.
Over the last two months, a team of contractors and SkyCity staff have been busy changing the external lightbulbs on the Sky Tower to LED, supporting SkyCity’s climate change commitment to reduce carbon emissions from the Sky Towers lighting by 10%.
Celebrity chef Sean Connolly is hanging up one of his many hats and calling last orders, as he departs from his role as Signature Chef at SkyCity Auckland’s The Grill and Gusto at the Grand. Sean’s last day at SkyCity will be 31 December 2019.
To acknowledge the considerable efforts of the fire and emergency services teams that assisted with the New Zealand International Convention Centre fire, all revenue generated from Sky Tower admissions on Sunday 17 November will be donated to Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand.
SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited (SKC.NZX/SKC.AX) (“SkyCity”) confirms that, just after 1.00pm (New Zealand time) yesterday, a fire broke out at the New Zealand International Convention Centre (“NZICC”) in Auckland. Fire and emergency teams responded immediately and continue to work tirelessly to contain the fire to a satisfactory level.
