SKYCITY proud to retain Rainbow Tick ahead of Pride Festival

SKYCITY Auckland is looking forward to this year’s Pride Festival as it celebrates retaining the Rainbow Tick accreditation for a second year.

The Rainbow Tick is considered a benchmark of valuing diversity and SKYCITY was one of the first companies to receive a Rainbow Tick accreditation in 2015.

As a proud sponsor of the annual Pride Festival, SKYCITY is extending its sponsorship also to be naming rights sponsor of the badminton tournament in the inaugural Proud to Play Games, held from 13 - 22 February across Auckland.

The Sky Tower will also be lit in rainbow colours to mark the opening weekend of the festival, 5-6 February, and the Pride Parade on 20 February.

“We place great emphasis on fostering an inclusive workplace culture internally as well as supporting it externally.

“Operating such a large and varied business, it’s wonderful to have team members that bring different skills, experience, personalities and perspectives, but who are also genuinely the very best candidate for that role,” says SKYCITY General Manager Corporate Services Gráinne Troute.

The Rainbow Tick accreditation reflects the support SKYCITY provides its Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Takatapui, Intersex (LGBTTI) community, and the value it places on diversity in the workplace.

SKYCITY Auckland has developed a variety of services and initiatives to support all of its 3,600 staff, including people identifying as LGBTTI to ensure all employees have fair and equal opportunities and an enjoyable working environment.

The Rainbow Tick programme is designed to help an organisation ensure it is a safe and welcoming workplace for employees from the LGBTTI community.  The annual auditing process examines company policy, training, engagement and organisational support, external engagement and ongoing monitoring.

SKYCITY also proudly supports organisations like OUTline, Rainbow Youth and the New Zealand AIDS Foundation through the SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust.
