New appointment for SkyCity Queenstown

SkyCity Entertainment Group has appointed leading marketer Amanda Youell to head up its Queenstown casino, replacing long-term General Manager Jono Browne who finished in December.

Michelle Baillie, General Manager of SkyCity Hamilton, says Amanda has a deep understanding of the Queenstown entertainment and hospitality market.

“Amanda is the perfect fit to lead SkyCity Queenstown into its next chapter. Over the past seven years, she has been instrumental in driving Millbrook Resort’s marketing efforts and spearheading sustainability initiatives, while also fostering strong relationships with the community. We’re confident her wealth of experience and passion for innovation will be invaluable and will add to the expertise of the current Queenstown Management.”

Reflecting on her new role as General Manager, Amanda says that she’s absolutely thrilled to join SkyCity Queenstown and take on this exciting opportunity.

“Queenstown has been my home for many years, and I’m passionate about creating memorable guest experiences while supporting sustainable growth and strengthening ties with the local community. I’m looking forward to working with the team to build on SkyCity’s legacy and help take the business to new heights.”

Before joining SkyCity, Amanda was the Head of Marketing at Millbrook Resort, Queenstown’s renowned five-star golf and lifestyle resort. In her role, she focused on driving commercial growth, enhancing guest experiences, and leading sustainability initiatives.

“I pride myself on delivering results through strategic vision, innovation, and collaboration, as well as building strong community partnerships and empowering my team,” said Amanda.

Originally from Australia, Amanda relocated to Queenstown in 2017 and has since developed a strong connection with the region and its community. Passionate about sustainable growth, she looks forward to bringing her expertise to SkyCity Queenstown’s casino, bar, and restaurant operations.

Amanda will officially assume her role on Monday, February 10.
