Safety Online

We’ve seen a rise in scam ads and fake websites pretending to be SkyCity. These fraudulent promotions often appear on social media or in app stores and are designed to trick people into clicking on unsafe links or downloading fake apps.

SkyCity does not promote its online casino through any third-party ads, including on Facebook, Instagram, or other social media platforms.

This page will help you spot the difference between real and fake SkyCity content, so you can protect yourself and others.

How to know it’s really SkyCity

As a first point of call, check the website address (URL). The official SkyCity websites are:

If you're unsure, type the address directly into your browser.

·         Download apps only from official stores:

We only release apps through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, under the verified SkyCity name. This is what our SkyCity app looks like [INSERT IMAGE OF LOGO]

·         Look for secure connections:

Official SkyCity websites will start with https:// and have a padlock icon in your browser bar.

Signs it might be a scam

Untitled Design

·       You saw it in a social media ad, especially one offering bonuses, prizes, or ‘free spins’ - like the example here.

·        The website URL looks odd (e.g., skycity-casino-bonus123.net).

·        You’re asked to download an app from anywhere other than official app stores.

·        The branding looks close, but not quite right - poor logo quality, unusual language, or outdated images.

·         It is illegal to advertise online gaming in both New Zealand and Australia

What to do if you see a fake ad or site

·        Don’t click on it.

·        Report the ad through the platform it appeared on (e.g., Facebook or Instagram).

·        Take a screenshot and send it to our team at [Insert email or contact form link].

·        Report to other agencies such as:

o   NZ Police - https://www.police.govt.nz/use-105

o   Netsafe - https://netsafe.org.nz/

o   National Cyber Security Centre - https://www.ncsc.govt.nz/

o   IDCARE - https://www.idcare.org/

o   (Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) - https://www.dia.govt.nz/Gambling

o   Advertising Standards Authority - https://asa.co.nz/codes/codes/gambling-advertising-code/

·         Let friends, whānau or colleagues know it’s not genuine.
