The Sugar Club has challenged perceptions this World Vegan Day

To celebrate World Vegan Day, The Sugar Club has been challenging perceptions by offering an entirely plant-based menu for the day in a bid to prove that vegan cuisine does not need to compromise on quality or flavour.

On 1 November guests dining at The Sugar Club enjoyed an exclusively plant-based tasting menu for lunch and dinner with an optional vegan beverage pairing.

The Sugar Club has a distinguished 32-year history of challenging the culinary status quo, most notably through Peter Gordon’s innovation, earning him the global moniker ‘Godfather’ of fusion cuisine.

“Offering an entirely plant-based menu for the day, including beverages, is an extension of our history as a restaurant that has pushed the boundaries in the hospitality industry. This is a wonderful opportunity for the talented kitchen team, led by Executive Chef Josh Barlow, to challenge perceptions around vegan cuisine” says Peter Gordon.

The Sugar Club kitchen is tasked with delivering a menu that is memorable for all guests, and they hope even non-vegan diners will enjoy the evening with them as another expression of the diverse dining scene in Auckland.

Barlow is excited by the challenge of creating vegan cuisine that will be uncompromising in flavour and give guests an exciting opportunity to broaden their knowledge of vegan dining.

“Marking World Vegan Day is an opportunity for us to showcase to our guests just how delicious plant-based cuisine can be. We are committed to delivering exceptional food and believe our menu will be as enjoyable as any other occasion at The Sugar Club.”

Josh Barlow joined The Sugar Club in May this year. Working collaboratively with Peter Gordon on his creative fusion cuisine, Josh has made an impression on diners, foraging locally and sourcing the best New Zealand produce available. Notably, The Sugar Club was recently listed in the Cuisine Top 100 New Zealand Restaurants.

In August this year, the restaurant celebrated its fifth birthday with a memorable evening that brought together former chefs from the different incarnations of The Sugar Club over the past three decades.

World Vegan Day aside, The Sugar Club offers a carefully crafted vegan menu that changes seasonally, ensuring that guests are catered for in an uncompromising manner with care and lashings of The Sugar Club’s renowned creativity.
