Is this Auckland’s biggest dartboard? SkyCity named title sponsor of the 2025 SkyCity New Zealand Darts Masters
SkyCity has turned the landing pad for the SkyJump at the Sky Tower, into a temporary dartboard to celebrate its official sponsorship of the 2025 SkyCity New Zealand Darts Masters.
The PDC’s World Series of Darts returns to Auckland on August 15-16, with the Spark Arena playing host to the two-day event which will feature eight leading players taking on eight Oceanic stars.
To launch the partnership, New Zealand's first Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tour professional Huapai Puha, leapt from the Tower as a 'human dart' aimed at the dartboard platform below.
“I’m used to standing still to throw darts, not launching myself off the Sky Tower!” Puha joked. “I was probably more nervous doing this than when I’ll play in the SkyCity New Zealand Darts Masters!”
SkyCity Chief Operating Officer Callum Mallett said SkyCity is excited to support one of the country's fastest-growing sports.
“We are delighted play a part in bringing this event to Auckland. Events such as the SkyCity New Zealand Darts Masters help create vibrancy in our city and are important boost for both tourism and retail in Auckland.
“This is just the beginning of an on-point partnership that puts both Auckland and SkyCity in the global darts spotlight,” Mallett said.
Puha added, “It’s an honour to be part of this event and to represent New Zealand on home soil. SkyCity’s backing is a massive show of support for darts in this country.”
The 2025 SkyCity New Zealand Darts Masters will bring the world's top players to Auckland’s Spark Arena in August for a high-stakes, high-energy competition that fans won’t want to miss.
PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter said we’re delighted to bring the World Series back to Auckland this year, and to partner with an iconic brand in SkyCity is a huge boost.
“This partnership will elevate our event, raise the stakes, and help to grow the profile of the New Zealand Darts Masters.”
